Latin Strings was founded in early 2015. It arose from the interest of four young latin american musicians in the performance and difussion of Latin American music in Germany and Europe.
The members, Inés Vega and Kathya Contreras (violin), Erika Cedeño (viola) and Kevin Guerra (violoncello) come from Chile and Venezuela, but his repertoire includes music from all over the continent. With Latin Strings the audience can enjoy dances and genres such as Tango, Cueca, Bossa Nova, Salsa, Joropo, Habanera, as well as music by Latin American classical composers.
The quartet worked regularly with professors from the Lübeck University of Music, during their studies. The four young musicians received important impulses from Prof. Bernd Ruf, Carlos Johnson, Prof. Lena Eckels and the Sirius Quartet (USA). In autumn 2020 the quartet received funding from the Possehl Foundation's “Kulturfunke” campaign for their “Heimatklänge” concert series. In March 2022, the quartet received a special prize at the "Zukunftsklang Award" chamber music competition.
Cities in northern Germany such as Lübeck, Wismar, Schwerin, Neumünster, Hamburg, Berlin often had Latin strings as guests on their stages. The quartet has always received excellent reviews at concerts and festivals, especially due to their musicality, temperament and passion on stage.Latin Strings sind vier junge Musikerinnen und Musiker aus Lateinamerika. Aufgewachsen in Chile und Venezuela, führte sie das Studium nach Deutschland. Als Streichquartett, 2015 gegründet, widmen sie sich besonders der Musik ihres Heimatkontinents: von traditionellen Genres bis hin zu zeitgenössischen Werken.
In Bearbeitungen um Original Kompositionen, Inés Vega und Kathya Contreras (Violine), Erika Cedeño (Viola) und Kevin Guerra (Violoncello) der außerordentlichen Vielfalt lateinamerikanischer Musik nach, die sich über Jahrhunderte hinweg aus unterschiedlichsten Kulturen herausgebildet hat. Ihnen ist es ein besonderes Anliegen, diese reiche Musiktradition auch in Deutschland und Europa bekannter zu machen. Allesamt klassisch ausgebildet verbinden die jungen Musikerinnen und Musiker in ihrem Spiel technische Präzision mit Temperament und Leidenschaft.
Wichtige Impulse erhielten die Mitglieder des Quartetts von Dozentin und Dozenten der Musikhochschule Lübeck wie Prof. Bernd Ruf, Carlos Johnson und Prof. Lena Ecekls sowie dem Sirius Quartett (USA).
Im Herbst 2020 wurde ihre Konzertreihe „Heimatklänge” in die Förderung „Kulturfunke*” der Possehl Stiftung Lübeck aufgenommen, 2021 förderte „NeuStart Kultur“ eine Tournee in Deutschland mit dem Programm „Viva Piazzolla!“. Im März 2022 wurden Sie beim „Zukunftsklang Award“-Kammermusikwettbewerb ausgezeichnet.
Im August 2023 haben sie ihr CD-Debüt „Raíces“ mit dem Label KKE Records aufgenommen. Auf dem Album interpretieren sie Musik von lateinamerikanischen Komponisten wie Villa-Lobos, Sánchez, Cardozo und Piazzolla. Zu ihren neusten Erfolgen zählt ihr Konzert in der Elbphilharmonie im März dieses Jahres im Rahmen der Präsentation ihres neuen Albums, das im Mai dieses Jahres veröffentlicht wird.

El Cuarteto de Cuerdas Latin Strings se fundó a principios de 2015 en Lübeck, Alemania. Surgió del interés de cuatro jóvenes músicos latinoamericanos por interpretar y difundir la música latinoamericana en Europa. Los miembros, Inés Vega y Kathya Contreras (violín), Erika Cedeño (viola) y Kevin Guerra (violonchelo), son originarios de Chile y Venezuela, pero su repertorio abarca música de todo el continente. Con Latin Strings, el público puede disfrutar de ritmos y géneros como el tango, la cueca, la salsa, el joropo, la habanera, y especialmente de música de compositores clásicos latinoamericanos.
Durante sus estudios el cuarteto trabajó regularmente con maestros de la Escuela Superior de Música de Lübeck y ha recibido impulsos musicales importantes de maestros como Bernd Ruf, Carlos Johnson, Lena Eckels y el Cuarteto Sirius (de Estados Unidos).
En otoño de 2020, el cuarteto fue premiado con fondos de la iniciativa "Kulturfunke" de la Fundación Possehl para su serie de conciertos "Sonidos de nuestra tierra", y en 2021, obtuvo una beca del programa "NeuStart Kultur" del Consejo Alemán de Música para una gira por Alemania con su programa "Viva Piazzolla!". En marzo de 2022, el cuarteto fue galardonado con un premio especial del concurso de música de cámara "Zukunftsklang Award".

Inés Vega is a charismatic chilean violinist based in Germany. Her passion for chamber music has led her to become first violin in the Latin Strings quartet, performing successful concerts all over Germany. Graduated with honors of Master Degree under the guidance of Carlos Johnson at the Musikhochschule Lübeck, where she also completed her Bachelor of Music, with scholarships from the government of Chile.
She began her piano studies and music theory in the Conservatory at the University of Talca (1995). Received her first violin lessons with Américo Giusti at the age of 8. Afterwards studied for two years with Álvaro Parra.
From 2009-2011 student at the Institute of Music of the Catholic University of Chile. She was a scholarship holder of the National Foundation for Youth and Children Orchestra of Chile (FOJI) from 2001 - 2012 and was a member of the "National Youth Symphony Orchestra", as Tutti 1st violin, principal violinist, and 1st concertmaster for the last four years.
She has performed as a soloist with orchestras such as the Symphony Orchestra of Chile, the National Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the Symphony Orchestra of the University of Talca, Kammerensemble Konsonanz, Collegium Musicum Rendsburg and Sinfonisches Orchester Hochschwarzwald e.V.
A very important impulse in violin and chamber music she received from José Francisco del Castillo, Stephan Picard, Mayumi Seiler, Jacqueline Ross, Marc Danel, Thomas Brandis, Cuarteto Latinoamericano and Sirius Quartet.
During her studies, in the 2017/2018 season, Inés has been chosen as an academist in the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck and was also an academician with the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra in 2018/2019.
From 2023 she is member of the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle Schwerin.

Graduada con honores de la Musikhochschule Lübeck en Bachelor y Master of Music con mención Violín y Pedagogía Instrumental bajo la tutela de Carlos Johnson.
Su acercamiento a la música comienza con estudios de Piano y Teoría de la Música en el Conservatorio de la Universidad de Talca (1995) y sus estudios formales de violín se inician a los 8 años con Américo Giusti. Durante su adolescencia, estudia privadamente con Álvaro Parra en Santiago de Chile.
Cursó estudios superiores en el Instituto de Música de la Universidad Católica de Chile entre 2009 y 2011. Fue becada en Chile por la Fundación de Orquestas Juveniles (FOJI) desde el año 2001 al 2005 con la Beca OJI, Beca Luisa Durán 2006-2007, y como miembro de la Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional Juvenil de Chile (OSNJ) entre 2009 y 2012. En Alemania, por la asociaciones “Live Music Now Hamburg” y el programa “Musikerkennen” de la Musikhochschule Lübeck con el cuarteto Latin Strings entre 2015 a 2019.
Ha actuado como solista con la Orquesta Juvenil de la Universidad de Talca, Orquesta Sinfónica de Chile, OSNJ de Chile, Kammerensemble Konsonanz de Bremen, Collegium Musicum Rendsburg y Sinfonisches Orchester Hochschwarzwald e.V.
Ha recibido importantes impulsos a través de clases magistrales de y música de cámara con José Francisco del Castillo, Stephan Picard, Mayumi Seiler, Marc Danel, Heime Müller, Thomas Brandis, Jacqueline Ross, Cuarteto Latinoamericano y Sirius Quartet.
Su experiencia en orquesta se ha ampliado en diversos proyectos tanto en Europa como en Asia. Durante sus estudios de Bachelor fue elegida como academista en violín en la Orquesta Filarmónica de la ciudad Hanseática de Lübeck por la temporada 2017/2018, de la Orquesta Sinfónica de Hamburgo durante 2018/2019; actualmente colabora de forma regular en ambas orquestas y además en la Orquesta Estatal de Mecklenburgo en Schwerin, en la que desde febrero de 2023 se ha integrado como violín Tutti.
Inés participa regularmente en diversos proyectos de ensambles independientes en el norte de Alemania y realiza clases remotas a jóvenes en Chile.
Born in 1993, Kathya received her first violin lesson in Valdivia, Chile, from her
father, Professor Patricio Contreras. In 2007 the young violinist won the 2nd prize in the
Competition of the National Foundation for Youth Orchestra of Chile (FOJI). As a soloist
Kathya has performed with the Valdivia Philharmonic Orchestra. She attended master classes with Professor Thomas Brandis, Daniel Guedes, Hubert Buchberger, Carlos Johnson, Sophie Heinrich,
Patricio Gutiérrez and Alissa Margulis. In 2015 she received a scholarship from YEHUDI MENUHIN
Live Music Now Hamburg e.V. In 2018 she received the degree Bachelor of Music at the

Erika Cedeño is a passionate and charismatic, venezuelan violist inspired by the connecting and expressive power of music. As the renowned Prof. Wolfram Christ notes, she is “a distinguished violist, who has a well-founded instrumental technique and a distinctive wonderful sound, her convincing musicality and winning presence on stage are remarkable”. Her performances as soloist and chamber musician, lead her through diverse Halls and Chamber Music Festivals in Germany, Europe and Latin America. Erika is also a very experienced orchestra player, in 2020 she played at the Deutsche Radio Philharmonie and she is regularly invited to play in orchestras such as Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe, Philharmonie Baden Baden and Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz. In 2017 she was awarded with the prize “Outstanding Artist of the Year” by the Lions Club Lübeck. Her enthusiasm for the chamber music inspired her to found the Festivals “Schulutuper Kammermusiktage” in Lübeck and „Badisches KammermusikFest“ in Bühl, Germany.Erika Cedeño ist eine leidenschaftliche und charismatische venezolanische Bratschistin, die von der verbindenden und ausdrucksstarken Kraft der Musik inspiriert ist. The Venezuelan cellist Kevin Guerra, who is considered as a passionate chamber and orchestra musician, has played in various renowned concert halls and chamber music festivals in
Latin America, Asia, USA and Europe. As a soloist he played the cello concertos by Edward Elgar and Robert Schumann with the Simón Bolívar and Teresa Carreño Symphony Orchestras as well as with the Young Orchestra Hamburg. As an experienced orchestra musician, he played as Solo Cello of the Teresa Carreño Symphony Orchestra and in the 2019/20 season he played in the Badische Staatskapelle Karlsruhe.
Kevin Guerra has received important musical impulses from the cellists Marek Gajzler, William Molina, Francesco Strano, Mark Churchill, Lucas Franzetti, Christine Leitner, Phillip Tribot, Adalbert Skocic, Alisa Weilerstein, Natasha Brofshy, Julian Lloyd Webber and Natalia Gutman. Since 2016 he has received a scholarship from YEHUDI MENUHIN Live Music Now Oberrhein eV and since 2018 a scholarship from the Kulturfonds Baden e.V. In 2017 he graduated with the degree Bachelor of Music at the University of Music Karlsruhe and is currently studying his final semester of the Master of Music at the same university with Prof. László Fenyö.Der venezolanische Cellist Kevin Guerra, der als leidenschaftlicher Kammer- und Orchestermusiker gilt, spielte in verschiedenen renommierten Konzertsälen und Kammermusikfestivals in Lateinamerika, Asien, den USA und Europa. Als Solist spielte er die Cellokonzerte von Edward Elgar und Robert Schumann unter anderem mit dem Simón Bolívar- und dem Teresa Carreño Sinfonieorchester sowie mit dem Jungen Orchester Hamburg. Als erfahrener Orchestermusiker spielte er als Solo Cello des Teresa Carreño Sinfonieorchester, in der Spielzeit 2019/20 spielte er in der Badischen Staatskapelle Karlsruhe und derzeit spielt in der Philharmonie Baden Baden als Stellvertretender Sollo-Cello.
